Adolescence

1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6 . 7

The teenager makes up his mind and leaves the house where he doesn't feel at home anymore. He thinks that life somewhere else will give him more satisfaction. Even if his parents beseech him to come back again, probably no words or tears can move him to give up the liberty he feels he has obtained at last.

Mother Laybay calls and cries,

looking for her son who's gone

to the waterspirit's realm:

My dear son, my dearest boy,

think it over very well,

realize what you're doing now.

Please, do come back home again!

You know why I tell you this:

Mother you will be in despair,

going round in frantic mood!

Says the stubborn son to her:

Mother, oh my Mother dear,

I have thought it over well,

realizing what I do.

No matter how much you cry

and are shredding tears for me,

I will not come home again!

I enjoy it very much

roaming through the river-floods.

My first trip I undertook

to the Buri palm with seeds.

Now my second walk from home

to the steep forbidden rocks.

Better to leave me here behind.

I have died and I am dead!
